Yes. The bike is supplied with a starter kit, which includes a set of flat platform pedals for use with regular footwear.

There is an easy-to-use button on the top tube that enables you to set the level of assistance that you require and also displays the battery charge remaining.

The button mounted on the top tube indicates the remaining battery life at a glance using a simple traffic light system. White= 75% capacity or more remaining, Green= 50-75%, Amber= 25-50%, Red= 15-25%, Slow Red Flash= 10-15% and Rapid Red Flash= 10% or less remaining. You can also keep track of the remaining battery life using the MAHLE SmartBike Systems companion app.

Yes, our e-bikes are pedal-assisted models and require rider input at all times.

There’s no need to worry; being a pedal-assisted model means you are always in full control. When a power assist level is selected the motor simply provides a little extra boost whilst you pedal and does not take over.

No. Pedal-assist electric bikes do not require holding a valid driver’s licence, paying any road tax or taking out insurance.

To charge the battery, you simply plug the bike into a household power socket using the supplied charger and cable. (The optional range extender can also charge the main battery whilst you are on the move).

The electric components used on our e-bikes are IP54 rated. They can be used in inclement weather conditions and are protected against splashing, but not against full immersion or when subjected to pressurised water from a hose pipe or jet wash. When transporting the bike outside of a vehicle, a waterproof cover should be utilised to protect the electronic components from water damage during such transportation. As with any bike, we recommend thoroughly cleaning and drying the bike after any wet weather ride to ensure the peak performance of your bike.

You can test-ride any of our e-bikes and receive expert buying advice at our flagship Clitheroe showroom. Please contact the showroom in advance so that we can ensure that any suitable bikes you wish to test are available for your visit. Alternatively, you can hire the e-bike from E-Venture Bikes in Keswick; the rental cost will be deducted from your purchase if you decide to buy one of our e-bikes.

All e-bikes can be purchased through all major Cycle to Work scheme providers. The government has even abolished the £1000 limit, making obtaining an e-bike on Cycle to Work more beneficial than ever.

The MAHLE X35 power assist system provides assistance up to 15 mph, at which point (by law, as with all e-bikes in the UK) the assistance cuts out. If you drop back below 15mph, the system will re-engage until switched off.

The battery range of the Hybrid AL e Trail depends on several factors, including rider weight, route profile and temperature. A rider of 90 kg on a varied route, including climbs, descents and flats, can expect an approximate range of up to 60 miles. An optional range extender is also available for all our X35-equipped e-bikes, effectively doubling the bike's available range.

The Hybrid AL e Trail is supplied with our proprietary, colour-matched pannier rack for your luggage-carrying needs.

There is clearance for 700 x 45 mm and 650b x 48 mm tyres without mudguards or 40 mm with guards fitted.

The MAHLE SmartBike system requires a bolt-on fitting rear wheel; the front is an M12 x 120 mm x 1.5 mm bolt-thru axle.

The bike, including its integrated accessories, weighs 19.5 kg in a medium size.

The battery can be accessed via the bottom bracket. The press-fit bottom bracket must be removed to achieve this. The motor is also easily replaceable, though we recommend that a professional bicycle mechanic perform this task.

The battery can reach up to 500 charging cycles while retaining up to 90% of its capacity, as long as its care and maintenance are adequate. Please refer to our battery care blog for our top tips and recommendations to maximise battery life. Use only the original MAHLE charger supplied with your bike.

Disconnect the cable to the rear wheel motor by unclipping the connector on the chainstay. Then, use an 8 mm Allen key to loosen the nuts on the rear axle, and reverse the process when the puncture has been repaired.

The frame is warranted against manufacturing defects for 3 years. The standard manufacturer's warranty covers all other parts. The MAHLE system carries a 2-year warranty.

The Hybrid AL e Trail is available in Small to fit rider heights 5’0” to 5’7” (155 - 167cm), Medium 5'7" - 5'10" (170 - 178cm), Large 5'10" to 6'1" (178 - 185cm) and X-Large 6'1” to 6’4” (185 - 193cm).
