The conveniently situated handlebar-mounted control unit allows you to switch between assistance levels and check the remaining battery charge without removing your hands from the bars.

Press the handlebar-mounted control button once to check the remaining battery capacity, which is displayed using a simple traffic light system: White = 75% capacity or more remaining, Green = 50-75%, Amber = 25-50%, Red = 15-25%, Slow Red Flash = 10-15%, and Rapid Red Flash = 10% or less remaining. You can also keep track of the remaining battery life using the MAHLE SmartBike Systems companion app.

All our e-bikes are pedal-assisted models and always require rider input.

There’s no need to worry; being a pedal-assisted model means you are always in full control. When a power assist level is selected the motor simply provides a little extra boost whilst you pedal and does not take over.

No. Pedal-assisted electric bikes do not require you hold a valid driver’s licence, pay road tax, or take out insurance.

You simply plug the bike into a household power socket and charge the battery using the supplied charger and cable. (The optional range extender can also charge the main battery while you are on the move.)

The electric components used on our e-bikes are IP54 rated. They can be used in inclement weather conditions and are protected against splashing, but not against full immersion or when subjected to pressurised water from a hose pipe or jet wash. When transporting the bike outside of a vehicle, a waterproof cover should be utilised to protect the electronic components from water damage during such transportation. As with any bike, we recommend thoroughly cleaning and drying the bike after any wet weather ride to ensure the peak performance of your bike.

All e-bikes can be purchased through all major Cycle to Work scheme providers. The government has even abolished the £1000 limit, making obtaining an e-bike on Cycle to Work more beneficial than ever.

The MAHLE X35 power assist system provides assistance up to 15mph, at which point (by law, as with all e-bikes in the UK) the assistance cuts out. If you drop back below 15mph, the system will re-engage until you turn it off.

The battery range of the Hybrid AL e depends on several factors, including rider weight, route profile and temperature. A rider of 90kg on a varied route, including climbs, descents and flats, can expect an approximate range of up to 60 miles. An optional range extender is also available for all our e-bikes, effectively doubling the bike's available range.

The Hybrid AL e includes integrated mounts for a rear pannier rack.

The battery can reach up to 500 charging cycles while retaining up to 90% of its capacity, as long as its care and maintenance are adequate. Simply disconnect the cable to the rear wheel motor by unclipping the connector on the chainstay. Then, use an 8mm Allen key to loosen the nuts on the rear axle, and reverse the process when the puncture has been repaired.

The frame is warranted against manufacturing defects for a period of 3-years. All other parts are covered by the manufacturer's standard warranty. The MAHLE system carries a 2-year warranty.

A step-through bike’s design includes a low-top tube (sometimes referred to as a crossbar), which allows you to step onto the bike and dismount without having to swing your leg over the saddle. This makes it especially suited to riding whilst dressed in business attire, a skirt or for those with restricted flexibility. Plus, this design also helps you to mount when luggage is fitted, without the need to balance the bike as you swing your leg over luggage, seat post, and saddle.

The Hybrid AL e Step Through is available in 2 sizes; Extra Small/Small to fit rider heights 5’1” to 5’6” (155-167cm) and Medium/Large to fit 5’6” to 5’11” (168-180cm).
